BTSO election: no official result yet, two sets of figures for 70 committees
BTSO elected 388 committee members and 159 assembly members on 1 October; no official result had been announced by the morning of 2 October. Burkay cites 40 committees, while a table from Matlı's camp shows assembly seats at 78–71. The chair will be decided on 8 October.
In the first stage of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) election on 1 October, 388 members of 70 professional committees and 159 assembly members were chosen. In TRTex's review on the morning of 2 October, no official result announcement from the district election board, BTSO, TOBB or the Ministry of Trade could be found; btso.org.tr carries no election result either. The figures come from the candidates' camps and from press reports.
Two camps, two sets of numbers
Board Chairman İbrahim Burkay said "in a total of 40 committees, Bursa's business community did not withhold its support from us". Ekonomim carried this under the headline "40 committees for Burkay, 30 for Matlı"; the report does not state the basis for the figure 30.
According to Bursa Hayat on the evening of 1 October, the green list led by Özer Matlı won 78 assembly seats in 34 committees. In a table relayed by Bursaport and shared by Matlı's camp, the blue list also won 71 seats in 31 committees and the white list 8 seats in 4 committees, with 2 seats in 1 committee decided by lot (70 committees and 159 members in total). Bursa Haber, referring to the blue list as "İbrahim Burkay's Blue List", wrote that it prevailed in 40 of the 70 committees. The reports do not name who prepared the table.
Turkhaber wrote that the gap between the two sets of figures may arise because "winning a committee" and the distribution of assembly seats from that committee are not the same thing; this interpretation is not based on an official statement. According to BTSO, more than 12,000 members voted.
Chair to be decided on 8 October
The board chair was not elected on 1 October. Under Law No. 5174, the newly elected 159-member assembly elects the chair and the board from among its own members. That vote, together with the disciplinary board and TOBB delegates, takes place on Thursday, 8 October.
Denizli
The Denizli Chamber of Industry completed its assembly and committee election on 1 October. The Denizli Chamber of Commerce votes on Monday, 5 October.
TRTex will publish the final results as official announcements from the chambers and election boards arrive.
