A roller blind is a mechanical blind in which a single flat piece of fabric rolls around a tube at the top. It is driven by a chain, a spring mechanism or a motor; a weight bar at the hem keeps the fabric taut. The fabric class defines the function: screen fabrics show the outside and filter light according to their openness factor, blackout roller fabrics block light completely, and plain polyester rollers sit in between. Mounting is to the ceiling, the wall or inside the window reveal; a cassette box is optional and chosen where the roll must stay hidden. When measuring, note that the fabric width is a few centimetres narrower than the mechanism, and state which one the quotation refers to. In public procurement roller and zebra blinds fall under CPV 39515400; they are the most requested group in office and school projects.
