India Carpet Expo: 189 foreign buyers placed orders in 2 days
In the first two days of the 50th India Carpet Expo in Bhadohi, 189 foreign buyers visited the stands and placed orders; 211 buying agents based in India also attended. 450 foreign buyers from 65 countries had been invited.
According to the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), 189 foreign buyers visited the stands and placed orders during the first two days of the 50th India Carpet Expo, held on 4–7 October 2026 at Carpet Expo Mart in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. 211 buying agents working in India on behalf of foreign buyers also attended.
450 foreign buyers from 65 countries were invited, 106 of them from 11 BRICS countries. The fair has 250 stalls. Business of about Rs 500 crore (5 billion rupees) is expected during the expo.
Why it matters
106 of the 450 invited buyers (about a quarter) come from BRICS countries: Indian carpet exporters are clearly shifting weight to markets beyond the US and the EU. For other carpet makers selling to the Gulf, Russia and Central Asia, this means tougher competition in those markets.
