Hotel Indigo reaches 200 hotels: 134 more on the way, 3 of them in Spain
IHG announced on 5 October 2026 that its Hotel Indigo brand has opened its 200th hotel worldwide, twice the 100 hotels it had in 2019. Another 134 hotels are in the pipeline; in Spain, 3 new projects are being added to 5 hotels with 500 rooms.

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced on 5 October 2026 that its lifestyle brand Hotel Indigo has reached 200 open hotels worldwide. The brand had 100 hotels in 2019, so its footprint has doubled in seven years. As of 30 June 2026, another 134 hotels are in the development pipeline. Hotel Indigo operates in more than 30 countries.
Key analysis
- Recent openings: new hotels opened in Grand Cayman, Portugal (Albufeira), Peru (Lima Miraflores), Thailand and the United Kingdom.
- New markets: the brand is entering Saudi Arabia and Egypt for the first time; new hotels are planned in Chongqing and Jingdezhen in China. Mexico, Costa Rica, Thailand and North Carolina in the US are also among upcoming openings.
- Spain: the brand has 5 hotels and 500 rooms in Spain; 3 new projects will take the portfolio to 8 hotels. Spain accounts for half of the 6 hotels under development in Europe.
- Design approach: IHG stresses that each hotel is built around locally inspired design, dining and stories rooted in its neighbourhood. The brand was founded in 2004.
Why it matters
Each of the 134 pipeline hotels means curtains, blackout, upholstery fabric, bed linen, towels and carpets. The brand's insistence on locally inspired design in every hotel favours contract textile makers who can develop hotel-specific patterns and colours rather than a uniform catalogue. With 3 of the 6 European projects in Spain, the country is at the front of the brand's European growth.
What members can do
- Contract curtain and upholstery makers: identify the investors and interior design firms behind the 3 new Hotel Indigo projects in Spain; prepare a short presentation showing your capacity for hotel-specific designs.
- Bed linen and towel suppliers: follow the projects in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, where the brand is entering for the first time; highlight production and delivery proximity to these markets in your offer.
- All hotel suppliers: keep your fire test reports and sample set ready in your bid file; follow project opportunities in the TRTex Projects section.
