EU Digital Product Passport (DPP) Integration Accelerates: Transition Begins for Turkish Home Textile Exporters
Under the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), the countdown has begun for the Digital Product Passport (DPP) infrastructure mandatory by 2027. Turkish exporters must finalize transition procedures and accelerate R&D as of June 2026.
Under the European Union's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Digital Product Passport (DPP) integration has become the top priority agenda item for the home textile and curtain sectors. By 2027, all home textile products placed on the EU market will be required to carry a QR code or NFC tag containing comprehensive lifecycle data, from yarn raw materials to recycling percentages.
With more than 60% of Turkey's annual $4.8 billion home textile exports destined for EU member states, the strategic weight of this transition is amplified. As of June 2026, leading Turkish manufacturers have launched infrastructure preparations, while urgent state-backed incentive programs are requested for SMEs. Industry bodies have warned that enterprises failing to comply with digital product passport regulations could face severe customs barriers at EU borders starting in 2027.
