Home-textile and fabric manufacturer Küçükçalık Group hosted the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr Mohamed Farid Saleh, at a dinner in Istanbul. The company announced the meeting on its official Instagram account on 3 November 2026. The group runs a production company in Egypt under the name KCG Textile Egypt; with its latest expansion, announced in 2025, its total investment in Egypt reached USD 65 million.

What was discussed at the dinner

According to the company's post, the dinner was hosted by Deputy Chairman of the Board Yılmaz Küçükçalık and Group CEO Mehmet Soyarıcı. The talks covered economic and trade relations between Türkiye and Egypt, investment opportunities in Egypt and areas for mutual cooperation. The photo shared by the company shows the minister and his delegation with the company's executives against a view of the Bosphorus. No new investment or agreement was announced in connection with the meeting.

The minister was in Istanbul for COMCEC

The minister was in the city for the 42nd Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), held in Istanbul from 31 October to 3 November. The main theme of the session was trade-finance instruments to boost exports in member countries. On 2 November the minister met Türkiye's Minister of Trade; the two sides agreed to continue work towards the target of raising bilateral trade to USD 15 billion. The third meeting of the High-Level Trade Consultation Mechanism is planned to take place in Türkiye in 2027. On the same day the President of TOBB, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, also reviewed Türkiye–Egypt commercial and economic relations with the minister.

According to a statement by Türkiye's Minister of Trade in July 2026, trade between the two countries reached USD 8 billion in 2025, and Turkish companies' investments in Egypt amount to roughly USD 4 billion. Dr Mohamed Farid Saleh, appointed in February 2026, previously chaired Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) from 2022.

Küçükçalık's production base in Egypt

On 6 July 2025 Küçükçalık Group (KCG) laid the foundation stone for a new USD 24 million investment in Egypt's 10th of Ramadan Industrial Zone. According to the announcement at the time, the investment would raise the group's total investment in Egypt to USD 65 million and its workforce there from about 1,800 to about 2,300; the new plant was scheduled to start production in October 2025. Products made in Egypt include curtain fabrics, bed-linen sets, decorative cushion covers, tablecloths, upholstery fabrics and shower curtains. The group's annual export target from Egypt is USD 100 million. Current production and employment figures have not yet been published by the company.

At a meeting with BUSIAD, the business association in Bursa, on 8 October 2026, Egypt's Commercial Office in Istanbul listed textiles among the priority sectors in which it aims to attract Turkish investment. The office cited KCG as an example of Bursa-based Turkish investors operating integrated factories in Egypt that produce yarn, fabric and ready-made garments.

Founded in 1940 as a fabric trading business, the group says it employs about 3,000 people at its facilities in Türkiye and Egypt and has 200,000 m² of covered production space. Its home-textile lines include blackout, sheer, drapery and embroidered curtain fabrics, luxury velvet and Premier Home branded bed linen.

What it means for home-textile manufacturers

Egypt presents itself as a production and export base for Africa and regional markets and is actively courting Turkish textile investors. This is the second Egyptian minister Küçükçalık has met within a month: on 8 October the group also sat at the table with Egypt's Minister of Finance at the Türkiye–Egypt Roundtable in Istanbul. Such direct, minister-level contacts are worth following for curtain, upholstery and bed-linen manufacturers that already have, or are considering, investments in Egypt.
