Pleated Blinds

A pleated blind is a mechanical blind in which a fabric with permanently set accordion folds gathers and extends between two profiles. The fabric is mostly polyester and is produced in sheer, semi-sheer and blackout versions; a honeycomb (duette) construction, where two fabrics are joined in a cellular shape, adds thermal insulation through its air pocket. A pleated blind is fitted inside the glazing bead of the window sash, one blind per pane, and moves with the sash; it therefore needs no ceiling or wall mounting and can also be applied to sloping roof windows and special shapes such as triangles and circles. Control may be by handle, cord, chain or motor; top-down and bottom-up versions exist. Measurement is taken inside the glazing bead; a quotation states the fabric code, fold width and control type.
