Zebra Blinds

A zebra blind is a mechanical blind in which a single fabric woven with alternating sheer and opaque bands rolls around a tube and folds back on itself. The fabric hangs in two layers, front and back; as the chain is pulled the bands of the two layers slide against each other, so the view closes when the opaque bands overlap and light and view open when the sheer bands line up. The construction combines the function of a roller blind and a venetian blind in one product: the fabric can be fully raised or left half-open to filter light. The fabric is mostly polyester; band width, the texture of the opaque band and the fabric weight define the look. Mounting is to the ceiling or wall, one blind per window; a cassette box is optional and a motorised version exists.
