Drapes

A drape is the heavy curtain layer that stands at the very front of the window, closes the room and carries the colour of the interior. The fabric may be a plain weave, jacquard, velvet, linen-look or coated cloth; adding a lining changes light transmission, thermal behaviour and fading in sunlight. Drapes are sewn as a pair of panels; the panels are equal in width and gathered with the same number of folds. The heading type (pencil pleat, pinch pleat, goblet, wave, tab) determines both the track or pole and the amount of fabric, so a quotation states the fullness ratio. In the layering order the drape sits in front of the sheer and the mechanical blind; on a motorised track it can move alone or together with the sheer. In public procurement drapes are announced under CPV 39515000 (curtains, drapes, valances and textile blinds), and curtain fabric under CPV 19244000.
