Sheer Curtains

A sheer curtain is the layer sewn from a loosely woven or knitted, lightweight curtain fabric that lets light through while softening the view. The fabric may be polyester, linen, cotton or a blend; voile, organza, net and woven sheer are the most common constructions. A sheer gives daytime privacy, scatters light and works as the second layer behind the drape; in the layering order it sits in front of the mechanical product closest to the glass and behind the drape. Sheers are usually gathered at the same fullness ratio as the drape; a lead-weighted hem or a plain hem is chosen according to how the fabric falls. Some sheer fabrics are woven to full height and sewn across the width, so a quotation states which direction the fabric will be used. In public procurement sheers fall within the curtain heading CPV 39515000, while the production of tulle, lace and narrow woven fabrics is classified under CPV 39561000.
